Voluntarism

The Junior League of Youngstown supports and promotes voluntarism as an essential component of our society and will continue to take action which will foster the effectiveness of the voluntary non-profit sector. We further recognize the vital contribution of volunteers in all phases of community life.

 

Children

The Junior League of Youngstown is committed to ensuring that children have the opportunities and services essential for their emotional, physical, intellectual, mental and social growth and will advocate to see that such opportunities and services are provided.

 

Domestic Violence

The Junior League of Youngstown recognizes that domestic violence is a major social problem with far-reaching physical, economic and psychological ramifications. The Junior League of Youngstown not only encourages awareness and education concerning this problem, but also stresses the need for continued supportive action by the community and the judicial system to aid protect the victims of domestic violence.

 

Aging

The Junior League of Youngstown is committed to ensuring that older adults have the opportunities and services essential for their physical, intellectual, emotional, mental, social and economic well-being and will advocate to see that such opportunities and services exist.

 

Substance Abuse

The Junior League of Youngstown believes that substance abuse among adults and youth is a major social problem as well as a primary, progressive and chronic disease, adversely affecting individuals and their families physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

We support responsible action or programs which will increase public awareness or promote education, treatment or rehabilitation concerning substance abuse. We also support the adoption of effective legislation to combat substance abuse.

 

Fair Economic Opportunities

The Junior League of Youngstown supports the goal of fair and equal economic opportunities for women and men, and will advocate to the attainment of this goal.

 

Education

The Junior League of Youngstown supports and will strive to promote quality, cost-effective education in primary and secondary public schools in Ohio.

The Junior League of Youngstown also supports all programs which promote the opportunity for, and the growth of, education for all citizens.

 

Revitalization

The Junior League of Youngstown is committed to revitalization socially, culturally and economically. The Junior League of Youngstown supports and encourages efforts of government, corporate organizations and private agencies to revitalize the Mahoning Valley as a viable metropolitan community.

 

Women

The Junior League of Youngstown recognizes that women have unique concerns in meeting the challenge of performing multiple roles in our society and will advocate for opportunities and services that promote women's intellectual, emotional, social and economic well-being.

 

Differently-abled

The Junior League of Youngstown accepts and supports the needs of the differently-abled in our community. We strongly advocate equal opportunities in education, employment, housing and socialization. Be it stated these people can make many positive contributions to our community.
